First and Foremost our Yorkies are our Pets First and we love each one dearly. Each and everyone was
selected very carefully for the Health, Beauty, and Temperament. I was blessed to have grown up with
Yorkies as our family Pets and ever since have had one or more Yorkies on my lap! Wherever I go or
whatever I may be doing a Yorkie will not be far behind me. As a Master Hairstylist, even my busiest
days, one or more of my Yorkies were brought into the Salon for a visit. They would put a smile on my
face and totally make my day!
This brings me to how I decided to breed the Yorkies. I was so devastated when I lost my Yorkie, that
had practically been with me from childhood, into my first apartment, Salon, into my first house, years
into my marriage, on every vacation and every part of my life.
I truly felt like I had lost a child, I was not eating, not sleeping and my life just did not feel right,
without by beloved little Companion.
I started looking for another Yorkie and realized how blessed I was to have owned a true Baby Doll
Yorkie. While I love all Animals and cry at every sad animal commercial I see. I could not seem to
locate a Yorkie that had the look of my precious little girl I had lost. She had the true apple head, huge
big expressive very wide-set eyes and was so smart she was like a person not a dog.
At that moment I knew I wanted to breed the Yorkie and experience the joy of a litter of puppies and
surround myself with the love I felt I had lost. So I set out to find Yorkies for my breeding program that
had the qualities I had lost and missed so desperately. I had trained my eye and heart to that look and
temperament and did not know it would be so hard to find. With years and months selecting each
carefully I think I have found what my heart so desperately was missing…… sooooo empathize with
those of you who call me just in tears over a recent loss of your precious companion, desperately
needing something to help heal your heart.
With each litter we have here at Blue Monday. I help each Mama whelp her litter and am right by her
side through the whole labor and delivery. With each puppy I carefully tie off the cord , gently clean
and suction the baby and hear them take their first little breath. All my Mama’s and Puppies are raised
in playpen right beside my bed. The first week of birth I am up with them every 2 hours to make sure
all are nursing and Mom is doing well. With the smaller puppies, at times they have to be tube or bottle
feed which requires the 2 hour around the clock care for them to maintain their weight and body
temperature. This takes true dedication and a determination to save that little 2 -3 oz life. I have been
fortunate and saved many that are the true extreme tinies, but it takes weeks and months of regular
feedings and lots of love and care. I become so bonded with these babies it is so very hard to let them
go.
This brings me to another topic I feel very strongly about. I do not believe in breeding programs that
are constantly buying and reselling the Yorkies they have bought for breeding due to this that or the
other thing. It breaks my heart to see the same Yorkie up for sale over and over and going from breeder
to breeder. This is “truly not fair to the dog”…and I do not feel is being an ethical breeder. This is
something you may want to consider when purchasing your Yorkie puppy? Ask the breeder what is
done with a Yorkie that does not work out in his or her program? I have taken huge losses on Yorkies
that did not work out to see that they go to a forever loving Pet home when a couple of the females
have been what I feel are too small for breeding. I would never put them back up for sale and risk them
being bred when myself or my Vet feel they are too small.
I have the same males I stated out with and love them dearly. When retiring a Yorkie they most always
go to one of my previous clients. Most all my clients stay in touch with me and know my heart when it
comes to the Yorkies. I am convinced if you cannot do right by the Dogs at all times then you do not
need to be raising puppies.
I always put my Babies, Mama’s and Daddies welfare first. They are given the best of Veterinarian
Care,,,,and even my Vet says he needs to name a wing at the clinic after me and my Yorkies. My Motto
has always been to
“ KNOW A YORKIE IS TO LOVE THEM”
So please make sure your buying your Yorkie from a reputable, honest breeder, which truly has a love
for the Breed and ALWAYS PUTS THE YORKIE FIRST!
